Privacy policy

1. Who operates Rally

Rally is operated by Quinn Cho, a sole proprietor based in British Columbia, Canada (“Rally,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy applies to the Rally mobile application, letsrally.ca, activity invitation pages, support services, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

2. Information we collect

Account and profile information

We collect your email address, authentication and account identifiers, full birth date, display name, biography, optional gender, Canadian postal code, activity interests, skill levels, discovery preferences, and profile photos you choose to provide.

Plans, locations, and participation

We collect plan titles, descriptions, dates and times, activity type, skill level, capacity, cover photos, neighbourhood, items to bring, and the meetup place and map pin submitted by a plan creator. We also record who created, joined, left, or waitlisted for a plan. Rally does not request continuous or background device location.

Messages and safety information

We store group-chat messages, blocks, reports, report explanations, evidence snapshots, report status, moderator notes, enforcement actions, and related safety records. When you report something, Rally knows who submitted the report, but we do not disclose the reporter’s identity to the reported member except where legally required.

Device and service information

We and our providers may process IP address, device platform, app version, session information, security events, diagnostic information, and service logs. If you allow notifications, we store an Expo push token associated with your account.

Website waitlist and optional updates

If you join a Rally waitlist or affirmatively enable Rally updates, we record your email, consent choice, consent wording version, source, and time. Rally is not sending newsletters at launch. We do not sell mailing lists.

3. How we use information

• Create, authenticate, secure, and support accounts.
• Display profiles and user-created plans to appropriate members.
• Suggest relevant plans using postal code, chosen distance, age, and interests.
• Manage joins, waitlists, group chat, invitations, and notifications.
• Detect, investigate, and respond to abuse, unsafe conduct, fraud, and policy violations.
• Operate, troubleshoot, secure, and improve the Service.
• Respond to support, privacy, legal, and account-deletion requests.
• Send optional Rally updates only where you have affirmatively opted in.
• Meet legal obligations and protect people, Rally, and the public.

4. What other members can see

Other members may see information needed for discovery and participation, including your display name, age, bio, general location label, photos, activity interests, user-created plans, and participation in plans. Exact meetup details and group chat are restricted to eligible plan members. Public invitation pages are designed to omit exact meetup details and private participant information.

Members may capture or share information they can view. Do not post information you do not want other members to know.

5. When we disclose information

We may disclose information:

• To other members as described above and according to the Service’s access controls.
• To providers that help us deliver the Service, including Supabase for authentication, database, storage, realtime features, and server functions; Expo and Apple for push notifications and app services; Cloudflare for website hosting and delivery; and map services used to display meetup pins.
• When reasonably necessary to investigate safety concerns or enforce our policies.
• To comply with law, court orders, or valid legal process.
• To protect the rights, property, or safety of a person, Rally, or the public.
• In connection with a proposed financing, reorganization, sale, incorporation, or transfer of the Service, subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal requirements.

We do not sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

6. Processing outside British Columbia

Providers may process information in Canada, the United States, or other jurisdictions where they operate. Information processed elsewhere may be subject to the laws and lawful access requirements of those jurisdictions.

7. Retention

We retain account information while your account is active and for only as long afterward as reasonably necessary for the purposes described here. Account deletion removes your authentication account, profile, photos, messages, blocks, participation, waitlists, push tokens, and plans you created, subject to the safety exception below.

Restricted report evidence, moderator notes, and related investigation records are ordinarily retained for 24 months after a report is resolved. We may use a shorter period where appropriate or retain specific records longer when reasonably necessary for an active safety matter, appeal, ban enforcement, legal obligation, or dispute. Identifiers are detached from retained report evidence when an account is deleted where reasonably possible.

Waitlist and optional-update records are kept until you withdraw consent or they are no longer reasonably needed. Providers may retain security logs and backups for limited periods under their own retention cycles.

8. Your choices and rights

You can edit profile details, change discovery settings, manage optional email updates, block members, and initiate permanent account deletion in the app. You may also ask to access or correct your personal information, withdraw consent where processing depends on consent, or raise a privacy concern by emailing support@letsrally.ca.

Withdrawal does not affect prior lawful processing and may prevent us from providing a feature that requires the information. We may verify your identity before completing a request.

9. Security

We use administrative, technical, and access safeguards designed for the sensitivity of the information, including authenticated access, row-level database controls, restricted moderation records, encrypted transmission, and account verification for deletion. No system can be guaranteed completely secure.

10. Adults only

Rally is intended only for people who are at least 19. We do not knowingly permit anyone under 19 to create an account. Report an underage concern through the app or email support.

11. Changes

We may update this policy as Rally changes. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice where a change is material or consent is required.
